When We See Them
The waste management sector comprises women working at different levels of the value chain, from the formal to the informal sector. Our focus for this event is on women who work as waste sweepers either in landfill sites or on the streets of Lagos. Afthonia in partnership with Joela, Women in Circular Africa (WICA) and Alliance Française wishes to celebrate 10 women waste sweepers in Lagos. This celebration will feature several activities such as;
- A training session by OSC fashion (How to transform waste into a valuable product)
- A Keynote lecture on the challenges and opportunities of textile waste in Lagos
- A session on identifying and transforming textile waste
- A makeover session from Joela
- Each of the women is styled with an upcycled fashion accessory and outfit donated by OSC fashion and Diakwu clothing respectively.
